Stop naturalization

The newspapers have reported to us a draft law amending some items of the nationality law, which allows the naturalization of a Kuwaiti foreign wife after 18 years of marriage, treating her as a Kuwaiti and obtaining a Kuwaiti passport with her mother's nationality during the period preceding naturalization. Frankly, I did not read the text of the draft law, but in general, the subject is sensitive, and every party looks at it from the angle it deems appropriate for itself and for whom it represents. I start with the nationality law, whose articles do not exceed two pages, whether the conditions for granting or withdrawing nationality, as the law is broad and basically depends on the fact that the principle of granting or withdrawing nationality is a sovereign matter that is not subject to the courts, which was established by the court of cassation rulings. Some National Assembly members had previously tried to present a bill to subject the withdrawal of nationalities to the authority of the law, but it was met with opposition that led to the rejection of the law legislation, and it is unacceptable that some try to turn the nationality law into a tool of political settlements and a waste of Kuwaiti identity. Turning to the issue of foreign wives and the children of Kuwaiti women, frankly, without raising the anger of any person, why do we want to naturalize the wife of a Kuwaiti as long as she is treated as a Kuwaiti, is granted a passport, and has the right to work and trade? What will she get from citizenship in addition to political rights? What is the benefit that Kuwait will gain by obtaining her political rights? What is the urgency of such a law? Officials left all the problems of the state and were completely preoccupied with the naturalization of foreign women. The current law gives the right to treat the children of divorced Kuwaiti women or widows as Kuwaitis until they reach the age of majority and thus choose between their father's or Kuwaiti nationality, and herein lies the question: is citizenship granted in a procedural or selective manner? How many of the full citizenship files are still waiting for the signature of the Minister without an outsider interfering? The fact is that the Kuwaiti wife will obtain citizenship immediately after 18 years of marriage, and the children of Kuwaiti women will remain for years with no schedule if they are lucky. They noted that, as of the time they reached the age of majority, they lost the privilege of being treated as Kuwaitis and were not issued a passport. Those poor people who were born and lived in Kuwait are in a very difficult situation. As for the wives, they are in excellent condition! I don't know how many wives a Kuwaiti can get married to. In other words, if he is married to four wives, an Arab wife, a Bosnian wife, an Indian wife, and a Filipino wife, who will get Kuwaiti nationality? Is it the first? Or the latter? Or Arabic? Or is the husband the one who chooses according to who is the most beautiful and the closest to his heart? Can he naturalize the other wife if he divorces the wife who obtained citizenship and her citizenship is withdrawn? To be honest, the topic is very cynical, and unnecessary. The issue of the Bidun (those who live in Kuwait without any known nationality) is much more complicated than that of the Kuwaiti wives and children, as some of them are entitled to citizenship and have not been granted their rights. Many of them are plaintiffs, they are forging ahead, and no one can stop them. In summary, I tell you that the solution lies in ridding the pending files of those Kuwaiti women who deserve their files under the existing law, as well as the Bidun, whose files have been completed from the point of justice, thus closing the door to naturalization forever. No one is subsequently granted Kuwaiti nationality, and the naturalization law is irrevocably annulled. It is enough for foreign wives to be given a Kuwaiti passport with their original nationality, as well as the children of Kuwaiti women by permanent residence and by treating them as Kuwaiti. Every Kuwaiti woman who wants to marry a foreigner should be aware of this, for the children follow the nationality of their fathers. As for those who are called the owners of great deeds, give them permanent residence with an honor medal if you like, and do not forget that if these people serve Kuwait, it was also paid service. I do not want anyone to be bothered. Because this is our homeland.
Stay Safe.
